I am thrilled to announce that as of last night's weigh in, I have lost 20 pounds!!! Yep, I am now officially halfway to my goal of 40x40! I am also losing inches, quite a few actually, and I can now fit into all three skirts that I've been saving, one of which I'll feature in tomorrow's teaching outfit post. All this WITHOUT dieting. That's right, you read that correctly my friends: I AM NOT DIETING. Rather, I am making good food choices, cutting my portions, and exercising four times a week. I don't go to a gym and I don't spend hours on some kind of exercise machine. I am dancing 20-40 minutes, alternating between high intensity Industrial and swishy Goth; and I'm incorporating weight training and traditional exercises. I concentrate on low weight, high reps and traditional sit ups, crunches, leg lifts, etc. I'm doing about 50 sit ups and 40 crunches every time I work out.
How do I feel? DAMNED FREAKING AWESOME!!! HELLZ YEAH! RAWR! I can see the difference and I can certainly FEEL the difference. I don't feel deprived. I feel strong and sexy. And my clothes are falling off of me! WAHOO! I SO can't wait to go shopping for my new body ... ok, I'll wait until June. BUT HELL! Can you tell that I'm a wee bit excited about this? *snicker* Hey, can this qualify for the recent Bat Fit Challenge of bragging? Hell, why not!
Dancefloor Tragedies Update:
Dear readers, I thought a lot about what many of you said yesterday in response to my post about my new Goth and Rivethead social group here in NYC. Many of you made a valid point: what if there was an awesome person who is under 35. What happens then? That would mean cool folks like Tante and Coffin Kitsch wouldn't be able to join, missing the mark by a mere few years. With that in mind I have decided to edit the group and make it for 30 and over. I still want to draw the line somewhere and I apologize to the 20 somethings out there ... but, there are plenty of groups here in NYC that focus on the younger set.
So, any 30+ Goths/Rivetheads in NYC that want to go to a museum? Lunch? Something? *hears crickets* Ok, I'll be patient.

Just saw this.... I'm 33 so now I can play. haha. No but I hear you about the age thing. There is a huge difference between even 25 and 30. You couldn't have told me that as a 25 year old but now I see it. My husband is 39 and we joke about how he was doing things/listening to bands in college (at Parsons ;)) while I was just a freshman in high school. So weird when you think about it in those terms.
ReplyDeleteIt dawned on me the other day that I could have been my students' mother. Now that just blows my mind ... seriously. Yes, there is a huge difference.
Deletecongrats! thats awesome and perfect you feel better!!
ReplyDeleteThanks darling!!! MUAH!
DeleteWish we lived in the same state, as I'd definitely pass the age requirement! My husband is only six years younger than me (1968 vs. 1962), but we still have THOSE kinds of problems on occasion. I'll make a joke or comment mentioning an actor, movie or band, and he'll look at me with a "WHO????" expression.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your group!
hehehehe ... thankfully Ed and I are only a year apart and we share a healthy dose of history. Hey, my sister's your age and I think her husband was born in 1969! :D
DeleteIt's too bad that all of you awesome people weren't closer! What fun we would have!!!
So glad for you. I haven't lost a single pound but I do my exercise frequently. I have been a bit under the weather for a period but I see my mood is changing. I'm waiting for the snow to melt then I will run in the forest.
ReplyDeleteOooo, 'run in the forest' sounds delightful! :)
DeleteI agree with Michelle: a run in the forest sounds divine!
DeleteI am so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
DeleteCongratulations, you're doing really well!! I'm finding that things like healthy eating and exercising are easier to form into habit when you're over 35 ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks! You know, I'm finding the same thing. Maybe I just want it more these days? Or maybe my tastes have refined? *shrug*
