Why, Hello Spring Semester!

Le Professeur Gothique Off to Teach Her First Class of Spring 2012
Let the semester begin! And you know what that means, dear readers -- I'm off holiday and back in "professor mode." Yesterday I taught the first classes of the semester at Parsons, both the History of Illustration. I was happily and excitedly yapping away to what seemed to be an equally excited class of illustration majors ... for 5 hours! Yep, I only have a half hour break between my two classes, which doesn't leave me much time to regroup and get off my feet for a little while. And then in the evening I'm off to RPG with Ed and the game group. Busy, busy. busy!!!

Dressing for the first day of classes is always the hardest. You don't know whether your classrooms are going to be hot or cold, or what the students are going to be like. The only things that you can control are your lecture, your image, and taking an addition layer just in case it's too cold. Yesterday I wore my pencil skirt from Lane Bryant that you've seen a number of times last semester. The funny thing is that it's no longer really a tight pencil skirt, but rather now fits me like a typical straight skirt from a suit. There's more than an inch of extra fabric around the hips! BatFit must be working! I topped it with a beautiful patterned velvet blouse from Jone's NY that I bought on sale at Lord & Taylor a few weeks ago. I absolutely MUST wear comfortable shoes because I'm on my feet all day pacing the classroom. These shoes were featured in my latest Homework assignment.

I wore my pinwale blazer just in case the classrooms were cold. It was actually quite warm yesterday in NYC -- 50 degrees (F) to be exact! I definitely didn't need another layer under my coat, but you never know what the classrooms are going to be like. Good thing I wore it -- one classroom was FREEZING, the other scorching. Go figure.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS OUT THERE! MAY YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL AND PRODUCTIVE SEMESTER!
