I wore a pair of basic black jeans and a cotton, v-neck sweater. The sweater has 3/4 sleeves and a lace embellishment set within the v-neck. This sweater looks wonderful with a pencil skirt and blazer so I will be featuring it again once classes resume on January 23. Of course no casual outfit would be complete without my trusty purple Converse sneakers (Chuck Taylors to you young'uns). My hair never fully dried yesterday so I just pulled part of it up and dried the bits that were loose.
BATFIT HELPFUL HINT: For those of us in America, the Subway sandwich chain was given an "A" by the Eat This, Not That guy. In other words, Subway was voted the healthiest fast food joint in America with the most healthy options. I've only been in a Subway a few times and have been impressed by the quality of their food and the visual truthfulness of their nutritional charts. The nutritional chart is posted right where a patron would order, making it quite easy to make the right choices. And the chart is very simple and easy to read.
Last night before the game we decided to go to Subway to get dinner so that we can make an educated choice. We usually order from a local Italian restaurant -- who knows how many calories, fat and salt we're eating! I had a 6 inch Veggie Delight with everything (all vegetables) except jalapenos peppers, on 9 grain whole wheat bread, and a squirt of sweet onion dressing ... all for 250 calories! Can you imagine? I was able to have a delicious meal and then snack a little at the game without over doing it! YAY! Educated choices are a good thing.
The Run Down:
Jeans: Eddie Bauer
Sweater: Dress Barn -- I highly recommend Dress Barn for their sweaters this year! I've been delightfully surprised
Converse: DSW
Necklaces: Mjolnir, a store in New Hope that is sadly no longer there! Magickal pendent: NY Ren Faire
Earrings: Kohl's

Not a huge fan of Subway, but it's better than eating some Arby's (that's my soft spot. Can't down anything that has to do with McDonalds or Burger Kind, but Arby's is another story).
ReplyDeleteMy preferred chain is Potbelly, because I'm a sandwich-and-soup kind of person. Yum!
Tenebris: I hear ya. However, I can't resist the lure of freshly baked bread that's actually REAL bread overflowing with crunchy vegetables! YUMMO!!! Plus they're all over Manhattan and Staten Island -- WIN!
ReplyDeleteSubway was my first job! I worked there from 16 to 20 and am a big fan of all their food and policies. They are franchises, so my boss owned the one I worked at and he and his family took great care of his staff. I loved making unique salads and having their veggie sandwiches. I was fit and slim all through my years of working there.
ReplyDeleteSubway sandwiches are so good! It is the best fast food place <3 Oh I did the first and second challenges and I just danced ONE HOUR! Just because it was so fun xD

California has a new law that is just awesome - all chain restaurants with more than a certain number of locations (not sure of the exact number, but I think somewhere around 10) are required to post the calorie count of each item right on the menu! It's an incredible step toward making people more aware of how bad most restaurant food really is for them. Even as an already healthy eater, this has helped me make better choices on the spot in many instances. Even menu items that "sound" healthy can be shockingly full of hidden calories (aka butter. lol).
ReplyDeletePS: You look so cute in Super Casual!
As a picky eater, I love Subway because I can clearly see what is being put on my sandwich. It's the one place where I don't have to inspect my food to make sure there's no cheese or mayo lurking in it. I pick up dinner at Subway at least twice a week... including tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteNo... jalapenos? I'm confused.
ReplyDeleteHexotica: That's awesome! We went to one on Tuesday that was so clean that I could literally eat off the floors behind the counter, and I don't say that often. The guy who made our sandwiches took great care in what he was making, going so far to inspect each vegetable that went on it. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteLeena: WAHOO! One hour!!! That rocks! Keep going and keep dancing. :D RAWRRRRR!
VK: NYC has had that law in place for over two years now and it's made a HUGE difference in how and what I eat out. I won't step foot in places like Cheesecake Factory or Chilis. I found the best three restaurants for healthy eating are Subway, Panera, and Applebees (they introduced a health menu a while back that's actually quite tasty and includes lots of vegetables). Did you do what I did the first time looking at a menu with the new law? I almost had a heart attack just reading the damn thing! *shutter*
What I find disturbing is that there are some places that are purposely making the calorie and health information confusing. Seriously? Why? Chili does this and Applebees used to do this until the "Eat This, Not That" guy got on their case. What are they trying to hide?
Aw, thanks!
Bane: Ed's the same way. He loves watching the veggies pile up on a fresh piece of bread ... and he loves watching them for the same reasons you do.
Tante: hehehe ... sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. They make me burp so I tend not to eat them when I need to mingle with people. ;)
I like Subway too, even if it is a bit overpriced here. (An average student's job pays an amout with wich you have to work for two hours to pay for one single small sandwich.)
ReplyDeleteIf I eat there I prefer "Fitness menu" wich includes mineral water and an apple, but instead of sandwich they make a salad from the same ingridients.
Goth Mary Poppins: WOW! That really is expensive!!! My 6 inch Veggie Delight cost around $4.00 US; what is the price there?
ReplyDeleteI'll never understand why healthy food costs more than crap food. It angers me to no end to see canned pasta meals going for $2.00 for 10, while fresh fruits and vegetables are so damned expensive in the supermarkets!!! It makes me crazy. I'm very happy that many of our GreenMarkets here in NYC take food stamps/government issued food cards so that everyone can have healthy choices.
Well, here it's five dollars for the smaller one. I guess than not the sandwiches are overpriced, student jobs are underpaid. :D
ReplyDelete(I used google to change currencies.)
Goth Mary Poppins: Student jobs are always underpaid, unfortunately. It's ridiculous. :(
