Wednesday Teaching, Silliness, and 40x40

Le Professeur Gothique being mighty silly
Yesterday's weather was crazy! The day started off around 57 degrees and then dropped steadily. By the time I left CSI I was freezing and the temperature was around 40 degrees. That's 17 degrees in a three hour period. Brrrr! I'm very glad that I was smart enough to wear this long sweater, velvet skirt and patent leather Docs. In addition, I am thrilled that I had the foresight to bring a fuzzy, warm shawl with me. I've featured all of the different components of my outfit in a variety of posts, but I've never worn the sweater with a long skirt before. I love the way it looks, especially since I'm a real sucker for the combination of textures. The skirt and blouse that I'm wearing are the same ones from my Halloween Teaching post.

I can't believe that there's only four more classes at CSI and two more at Parsons! I'm stunned that the semester is almost done! While I'm really looking forward to the upcoming break, I am also really looking forward to the spring semester. I'm teaching a class on the History of Illustration and I'm teaching the second half of the Intro class, both at Parsons. Have I told you, my dear readers, how much I love teaching at Parsons? I adore teaching art students, especially at a school like Parsons. I'm also thrilled that I'll be in one school instead of scattered across two or three. It makes my life much more organized and easier.

40x40 Update:

I want to thank all of you for your support and kind words as I embark on my goal of 40x40! Because so many of you jumped on board I think we should make this a Goth Blog Health Quest ... I really need to come up with a catchier name for this. Perhaps we can do a weekly or biweekly post/check in to talk about our accomplishments, our hick-ups (we won't call them failures), and our progress. That way we can keep each other on track and will be able to root and cheer for each other. What do you say? I'll come up with a graphic for us to use and maybe you, dear readers, help me come up with a catchy name for this year's health quest. What do you say?

The Run Down:
Blouse: Macy's, this summer
Skirt: OneStopPlus, this fall
Sweater: Dress Barn, this fall
Stockings: Target
Docs: ShoeMall
Crystal Apple Pendant: a gift from my pal Jules
Snowflake earrings: a gift from my sister Liz

  2. As far as title suggestions go, the olny thing my Un-creative brain could come up with was "Goths on the run".

  3. I don't have a blog but have decided that I'm going to take part in this as well. Thank you for the advice on yoga. Hopefully the benefits will be two-fold in that I build stamina AND lose a few (my ultimate goal is 30-my pre-illness weight of 95 is just not realistic!). :)

  4. Hehe, "Goths On The Run" sounds cool, @Under_The_Stairs! :)
I instantly started singing it to the melody of "Fox On The Run" by Sweet.

Count me in, I want to be A Healthy Goth, too!
(I'm still on the chocolate diet till tomorrow night: I don't eat anything but chocolate...^^)

  5. Goths Getting in Good shape? Sounds pretty for me, though it might not be grammatically correct, english is not my native language.
I'm just about to start my own blog, and I'd be happy to join.

  6. I'm in! Mr. Kitty is quitting smoking, so I'm upping my health-consciousness too in order to support him (although we are both already pretty healthy in our lifestyle, one can ALWAYS do better). My goals are more vegetables (YUCK) and more regular exercising, especially strength training. It would be great if the Quest encouraged all kinds of healthy living, not exclusively weight loss. I love the idea of all of us being one big Gothy Healthy Living Support Group!

  7. Excellent idea! It's so much easier to make changes when you have a group of like-minded people supporting you. I agree that the focus should be healthy living, not specifically weight loss. To keep it broad enough to encompass everyone's goals, maybe call it something like the Dark Wellness Quest? It might be fun to throw in a few challenges, like "dance to VNV Nation for half an hour" ;) or "do 10 minutes of step (stomp?) aerobics wearing New Rocks" or "relax in a warm bath by candlelight" (because destressing is healthy!).

  8. I'm in as well! No blog as of now, but as I'm turning 45 next September, I've decided that some changes need to be made so I can live another 45!

  10. Oooooo... I didn't know you taught history of illustration. I'm getting a degree in illustration at my college currently (in my last year).

You could also call your hick- ups lapses, but hick- ups does sound less negative :)

  11. I love that sweater! And I also like the idea of a 'support group', I think that would be great. I don't have any name suggestions but there have been some good ones put out already!

  12. Holy SMOKES! I am so overwhelmed by all of this wonderful support ... and by how many of you want to join in the fun! Yes, yes, and yes again! This isn't about weight loss at all. It's about healthy living. Sound living. Balance. And hell, it's about having fun doing so! OMG! I love the challenges Bane! HAHAHA! I SO know what my first challenge is going to be to all of you! WAHOO! Mr. Kitty is quitting smoking?!? HELLZ YEAH! Good for him! GO MR. KITTY!

Wow. This is so cool. Stay tuned to my post either tomorrow or Saturday. I have some announcements and come cool ideas. I keep going back to "Momentum 2012." It's like we are all gaining Momentum in health and it's a nod to VNV ... who will be the first challenge. ;) Bane, I'm stealing your idea and will give you the credit my darling! MUAH!

OH everyone, (((((SQUEEZE)))))) I am sending you cyber hugs! MUAH! MUAH! MUAH!
