Yesterday, I dropped my grades off at CSI -- yes, they still make us do physical grades instead of on-line grading -- and spent some much needed time with my older sister. My sister, her husband and their two kids are in for a Christmas visit. This was the first time in a long time that my sis and I got to hang out together sans boys, and what a treat it was!!! She drove me up to the college and then we went to lunch ... and happily yapped and yapped over fries and coffee. Indeed, it was fabulous, quality sister time -- time we both needed and deserved.
I haven't done laundry in two weeks because of the holidays and end of semester insanity. So I'm digging in my closet for casual and comfy combinations. Although it was freezing yesterday, I decided to wear a pair of leggings, crocheted socks and my DIY Target shoes. What was I thinking? Brrrrrr! I paired the leggings we my old travel knit skirt, a black boatneck blouse and my beloved grey sweater. I have to admit, I was indeed channelling some 80s goodness here. ;)
The real show-stopper, however, was my new Art Deco necklace from Alchemy Gothic. Ed gave me three Alchemy pieces for Yule this year and this is one of them. I was thrilled to received this, but I am tickled pink to find that I have a pair of earrings that match this perfectly!

hmmm .... Can anyone recommend a good lip stain?
The Run Down:
Sweater: Dress Barn
Blouse: Lane Bryant
Leggings: Lane Bryant
Skirt: QVC
Shoes: DIY, Target
Socks: Target
Necklace: gift from Ed
Earrings: gift from someone ... a long, long time ago

That necklace is so fantastic, definitely a show-stopper.
ReplyDeleteI love lipstains. The best one I have used is from Body Shop. Revlon makes good ones too, and they come inmultiple colors but they tend to dry out quickly.
Ed made an excellent choice with that necklace. Can't wait to see the other things you got for Christmas!! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't found a lip stain that works on me at all, except the Sleek Pout Paints. They have to be ordered online for those of us in the U.S., but they are so worth it. What I like about them is they do not dry out completely and then flake off (my trouble with all the other lip stains I've tried). And you can put gloss or balm of any kind on top of them. Also, you can blend the colors to your heart's content. They come in black, white, and a nice range of colors so anything is possible.
What a beautiful necklace!
ReplyDeleteFor a lip stain with staying power, I like Tarte Lipsurgence - though I am not a fan of most of their color options.
I don't know if you are an etsy shopper but, if you are, you might like to drop into 'opheliasapothecary'. I am a total convert to their lip balms and tints and wear them on a daily basis: they work alone or with lipstick (under or over). Some of their darker shades are definitely more of stain than a 'tint' (despite the name) and can definitely be worn alone. Unlike most stains (even Tarte), they don't dry out my lips. The only 'negative' - they only make small quantities of stock, and sometimes don't have a wide range of colors, so you may have to check out their shop a few times before finding something you like.
A good Lip stain?
ReplyDeletePlease allow me to give you a run down with the good, the bad and the down right girly.
The good:
Urban decay does a sublime purple/pink called 'Envy' (smells SO GOOD!)
Revlon has a 'Just Bitten' range which comes with both the stain and a lip balm. I highly recommend 'Frenzy' it's a mauve pink that lasts ages. They also have a beautiful red called 'Gothic' and it's a straight red that has no orange tones to it. I only wish they had been a little more creative in naming the range.
The bad:
e.l.f studio - the pack i brought was a mix of pinks and they all turned peachy orange by the end of the day, also on a side note tasted like chalk, which is odd considering it's mainly made from alcohol and dyes
Covergirl Outlast lip stain, whilst the stain looked good at the start, after a few hours faded quite quickly and i had to re-apply also quite drying as well. i'm not sure if the reason i had to re-apply was due to my job, i'm in retail so i spend my time talking most of the day
The girly:
Tokidoki Gelato lip balm lip stain range
with names like 'Donutella' and 'pink martini' it was hard to pass when i was in Sephora last, I picked up one called 'skeletrina' which has a nice light plum purple tint and it works wonders as a lip balm
hope this helps
FANTASTIC HELP everyone! Oooo ... I have some stains to check out and some stuffs to order. YAY! Thank you all!
