2012 Healthy Goths: An Update

Many of you, my dear readers, have expressed interest in joining me on my quest to get healthier for 2012. Some expressed the desire to lose weight, others want to add exercise to an already healthy routine, and still others talked about emotional and mental health. Basically what we are all talking about is taking ahold of our lives -- our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls -- and making them healthier and happier. Indeed, this is a very transformative year for all of us! I am humbled and completely thrilled that my own quest of 40x40 has started such an amazing revolution for all of us! I'm just tickled all sparkly black!

I decided that it would best to make this more official, so I'm going to roll out some fun things for all of us to participate in:

1. Look over to the top right column of this blog. See the poll? Ok, now vote for what you would like to call this Health Quest! I have my favorite, but will keep that secret. Voting will be closed on December 10 at 11:59 PM (EST);

2. Once we get a name then I will make an image for us to use when we are posting about our progress, etc.;

3. And once we get a name I will also create a Facebook Group for all of us to join to support each other. It will be a private group so that we can be completely honest about ourselves and our quest. This way we can all support each other in a safe and secure environment;

4. I am going to start posting health challenges for all of us to do. THANKS TO BANE OF GIY: GOTH IT YOURSELF for this idea! These challenges will always be fun, sometimes relaxing, and will take a new spin on how to get healthy. It might be trying a new vegetable or adding a new exercise into our lives ... or it might be as simple as making sure you do something relaxing like taking a bubble bath.

So, my friends, let's make 2012 a healthy year ... Goth style!

  1. I'm already in love with the idea of a Gothy Health Quest. :)
    And I already treated myself with some bath ingedients for the above-mentioned bubble bath. ;)

  3. Can I post a write-in vote of "Sweating Off Our Eyeliner?"

    Perhaps a subheading?

  4. Tante Fledermaus:

    That made me smile, and think of Stepford wives.

    Taking up yoga classes, no fast food, and a bit less bakery products will make me loose 6 pounds till february. I hope.

    In december and january I have exams, so it counts as a wellness, to sleep, and comb my hair.

  5. Spooky Vegan: Thanks!

    Sal: Treat yourself well, my darling! You deserve it! Remember, like Bane said, good health also means relaxation.

    Celeste: Thanks! And YAY! Come join the fun! Even if it means we remind you to relax more .... or try a new recipe ... or walk here, there and everywhere. It'll be fun, I promise.

    Tante: Hehehehe ... ok, that awesome. Yes, a subheading would be great. Remember though, this isn't only about losing weight. It's also about getting into shape: physically, mentally and emotionally. :)

    Snowhyte: Aw, thanks!

  7. The cure to anything is salt water- sweat, tears, or the sea. You need waterproof eyeliner for all those things.

  8. Tante: AH! I see where you are going with this. Good deal. And so true -- waterproof liner and waterproof mascara! ;) Funny that you should mention salt water -- that's what the piercer recommended I soak my piercings in. :)

  11. Jessica: Aw, no problem! Have a healthy and happy too!

    CaraMia: Thanks! I think we're going to help each other -- I need motivation too. Like Ms. Kitty said, I now have a whole blogosphere keeping an eye on me. :) One thing I want to make sure happens is that it's FUN. Getting into shape without the fun sucks big time! Dancing to VNV in ones living room = fun. :)
